A Dream for Gamers in Red and Black: The Corsair Carbide SPEC-OMEGA Midi-TowerThe Corsair Carbide SPEC-OMEGA Midi-Tower is a dream come true for gamers wanting a case that not only looks good but can hold the right hardware for high-end gaming as well. Corsair's Midi-Tower can hold up to 370 mm long graphics cards and offers space for a 360 mm radiator in the front e.g. for cooling overclocked high-end processors with an AiO.
A pre-installed 120 mm fan with red LED lighting is located in the front and is supplemented with the addition of two further 120 mm fans. To achieve this, the fans must be shifted slightly upwards. Combined with the pre-installed fans in the rear, both front fans offer excellent airflow. Two additional 120 mm fans can additionally be fitted into the roof of the case.
Easy to Cool and Plenty of Storage SpaceThe lower optional fans is located at the height of the hard drive cage. This can be kitted out, tool free, with two 3,5" HDDs or 2,5" SSDs. Even when installing a 360 mm radiator in the front the cage still does not need to be removed. Two additional SSDs can also be installed behind the motherboard tray. Radiators up to 240 mm in size can be installed under the roof and in the fear of the case.
The power supply is installed in the floor of the case atop a rubberised shelf and can be up to 20 cm in length. A removable dust filter is located beneath the PSU. The large window in the left hand side allows you to cast a glance over your installed hardware. The I/O panel is equipped with two USB 3.0 ports as well as both audio jacks and is located in the upper area of the front.
The futuristic style of the Corsair Carbide SPEC-OMEGA Midi-Tower fuses angular design choices with tempered glass. The glowing LED fans and LED strip looks fantastic through the tempered glass panel and lends the case, with its red-black front and red roof, an extra degree of style and class. All in all the result is a Midi-Tower that is a joy to look at in its own right. This, combined with the excellent hardware compatibility of the case, makes the overall design of the SPEC-OMEGA an indisputably great Midi-Tower.

Summary: Gaming oriented, this Spec-Omega plays the originality card with a marked design. Its angular and asymmetrical lines add character. The backlighting (front panel and fan) highlights its configuration through tempered glass panes and supports a long graphics card, multiple hard disks and SSD. The two 120 mm fans ensure a correct air flow by playing the balance card between noise and cooling. Announced at 110 €, this Spec-Omega has arguments. The most important thing for us remains its unique look. Too bad there's no front filter.
+ saubere Verarbeitung
+ ordentliches Platzangebot für einen Midi
+ ausreichend Lüfterplätze und Platz für Radiatoren
+ zwei recht leise Lüfter vorinstalliert
+ cooles Design (inkl. Echtglas-Elemente und Beleuchtung)
+ gutes Kabelmanagement
+ Staubfilter für Netzteil
+ fairer Preis
The performance/narrowness ratio is good, thanks to the two SP 120's, one of which is LED, well placed and strong enough to evacuate the heat generated by a passive configuration like the one we use. Noise pollution is reduced as we have noted, although a noisy hard disk is heard through the carcass. Despite the design, which is no longer very new, and the good performance offered by this model, it is difficult for us to accept to spend 110€ on this box.
The SPEC-Omega truly is a funny chassis with very little flaws. As stated though, I would have liked more room for cable routing at the rear and perhaps a PSU cover to hide that power supply and the cables. Other than that it all comes down to taste and your subjective preferences in design. For some the angular design will be hard to swallow, others will very likely love it. Overall the build quality fine and you can quite easily tuck away LCS coolers in there, the front side would be excellent for that with room for up-to 360mm LCS kits.read more...
