Why Should I Cool my Graphics Card with Water?Peak performance in the GPU segment typical comes with a caveat: excessive heat. This is due to the fact that getting the last drops of performance from the card's Compute Units requires all the dials to be turned to eleven, with the decisive advantage over competing products coming down to who has the superior cooling. Smaller nodes and more efficient layouts certainly help contain this problem, although they don't completely resolve it. Moreover, each generation pushes things to the max - and when this happens, there's really only one alternative: water.
The problem is aggravated by overclocking, because temperatures can reach critical values. In short: If you want a low volume even when playing games or even when benching and want to turn the clock screw at the same time, you can hardly avoid water cooling. In addition to the usual components (radiator, pump, expansion tank), a suitable cooler for NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 2080 Ti is of course required - just like this model from the Wakü specialist EK Water Blocks.
Optics and connections of the EK Water Block EK-Vector RTX RE TiIt's a full-block design that covers all relevant heat sources of the graphics card and thus cools effectively - i.e. the GPU, the memory and the voltage converters. Electrolytic copper and an optimized channel structure are used to optimally transfer the heat.
The lid is made of black acetal. The connection terminal has four holes (G1/4 inch thread). Due to the flat design of the cooler, the connection of several graphics cards via NVIDIAs NVLink is also possible without any problems.
Note 1: For integration into the cooling circuit, connections are required that are not included in the scope of delivery. Thermal paste and thermal pads are already included to establish contact between cooler and graphics card. Please make sure that the cooler is only suitable for NVIDIA graphics cards of type GeForce RTX 2080 Ti in reference design! The original cooler must be removed prior to installation, voiding the manufacturer's warranty!
Note 2: This cooling block is not compatible with the factory mounted backplate of the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. However, the original NVIDIA NVLink bridges can be used.
