The HTC Vive Tracker (2018) takes VR to a completely new level and thus makes the ideal upgrade for the HTC Vive and HTC Vive Pro. The Vive Tracker is a universal tracking device that can be attached to virtually any object to allows its movements to be tracked in a virtual space. With the corresponding object, like a sword or other tools, users are free to enjoy a marked increase in immersion than can be experienced with a gamepad or keyboard. With a compatible attachment, users can even put it on a limb to enable full body tracking.

Increased Immersion Thanks to Universal Tracking

The small, round HTC Vive Tracker possesses 18 SteamVR IR sensors which allow a viewing field of 270 degrees. Apart from the current direction it faces, the X-, Y- and Z-axes can all be tracked. The LED illuminated power button has the shape of the Vive logo and shows the current states of the tracking device. Not only is a connection with the PC possible, it can also be connected to electronic accessories. As a result, it is possible to attach the HTC Vive Tracker using the standardised G1/4" threads which is the same as in camera tripods and allows many other objects to be mounted.

Carrying the signal is possible using a wireless 2,4 GHz signal. Up to 4,5 hours of playtime is then possible. After this, the HTC Vive Tracker must be charged via Micro USB. Due to compatibility with SteamVR BS1.0 and BS2.0, the HTC Vive Tracker (2018) is compatible with the HTC Vive and the HTC Vive Pro. The old- and new lighthouses are both compatible and enable an area of up to 10 x 10m to be tracked and used.
