Infinity Mirror with RGB-LED LightingWith the remarkable designer 805i Midi-Tower, the case certainly leave users little room for doubt when it comes to just who is behind this InWin case. "Boring" just isn't even in the vocabulary of the designers over at InWin, just as "standard" is an alien concept to Caseking. The single most eye-catching feature is without doubt the clever infinity mirror. This optical illusion arises from the use of a glass front section that consists of a one-way mirror that only partly reflects the light from the interior and as such only allows some of the light to escape outwards, this is combined with a fully reflective mirror on the inside.
The light emitted by an RGB-LED strip is reflected back and forth between mirrors, meaning that only part of the total light produced is visible from outside. This is what results in the striking visual effect of the so-called infinity mirror. The principle is similar to the one-way mirrors most famously found in police interview rooms. The interior of the case includes a further RGB-LED strip beneath the room as well as the lighting found in the left side at the back.
"ASUS AURA"-Support & "HALO" Control SoftwareWhat's special about all this lighting is the fact that it is completely configurable with plenty of different colours and RGB lighting effects thanks to the "HALO" control software. The "HALO" app for Windows can be downloaded on the product manufacturer's website, and it offers five vibrant lighting effects as well as a custom mode to allow you to create your own incredible light show. Additionally, the InWin 805i is fully compatible with the 4-pin AURA headers found on ASUS motherboards, thus giving users another alternative for convenient control over their case's lighting effects.
ATX Midi-Tower with Convenient & Super-Fast USB 3.1 Type CThe breathtaking aesthetics of this work of art is combined with a conventional tower-style construction as well as transparent lightly tinted tempered glass side panels which are rounded and are 3 mm thick. The overall effect is to make this ATX tower truly unique and a sight to behold. Similarly impressive is the use of anodised aluminium with a delicate brushed texture on the top as well as on the conveniently located I/O panel. There is just one other (external) highlight of the InWin 805i for users to discover: in addition to the USB 3.0- and two classic USB 2.0 ports, the power button and the obligatory HD Audio in-/out, the I/O panel also includes a brand new USB 3.1 Type-C connector. This new kind of USB port is remarkably slim and allows devices to be inserted in either orientation. USB 3.1 ports achieve speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s, twice as fast as USB-3.0 ports. The separate internal connector for this Type-C port is identitcal to those used with USB-3.0 connectors, however the 10 Gbit/s transfer rate does depend on the presence of motherboard support.
Prepare to be impressed by the Internal Specs of the 805i!In addition to the luxurious range of connectivity options, the black InWin 805i also offers plenty of space on the inside for high-powered hardware. This Midi-Tower supports ATX-, Micro-ATX- and Mini-ITX motherboards and offers a robust aluminium basis to build on. When it comes to tower-style CPU coolers, there is 156 mm of space available between the motherboard tray and the window panel. Graphics cards up to 32 cm long are also supported, meaning high-performance GPUs are more than welcome in this case.
The roof of the InWin 805i is completely closed, although the airflow design provides a cleverly directed air flow that goes from the bottom of the case to the back. As such, two 120/140 fans can be mounted at the front and a pre-installed 120 mm fan is waiting to be used at the rear, above the eight expansion slots. Two additional 120mm slots, protected by a magnetic and thus removable dust filter, are located on the bottom of the case, although the internal HDD cage must be moved upwards behind the front to use them.
The power supply unit in the 805i can be up to 220 mm long and is not separated from the rest of the airflow, but instead actively contributes to ventilation by helping to pull fresh air from the inside of the housing and then ejecting it to the rear. But the stylish Midi case also allows the use of water cooling. Instead of the two fans on the front, a dual radiator with a size of up to 280 mm can also be mounted here, while a 120 radiator of an AiO water cooler can alternatively be installed in the back if users prefer.
Three 2,5" drives can be mounted on the back of the motherboard tray, while two 3,5"- or two 2,5" SDDs or HDDs can be installed in the drive cage, on which yet another 2,5" drive can also be attached if needed. The HDD cage can itself be moved to the front so as to fully expose the fan slots on the bottom, although this then takes up one of the fan mounting locations. The plentiful supply of tray pass-throughs along with the CPU cooler cutout help to make installing hardware in the InWin 805i Midi-Tower incredibly easy. Robust stand-offs also give the case a secure grip on just about any surface.
