Product information - Radeon RX 470 Gaming X 4G, 4096 MB GDDR5

The Radeon RX 470 is AMD's premium HD gaming graphics card from the RX 400 series. The extremely high performance card with its excellent price-to-performance ratio is perfect for gaming in Full HD resolution (1.920 x 1.080) and is a very attractive proposition for price-conscious gamers when paired with a Freesync monitor. Based on AMD's 4th generation GCN architecture and manufactured with the new 14 nm FinFET process, the Radeon RX470 has a TDP of only 120 Watts. According to AMD the RX 470 achieves a solid 60 Frames per Second in AAA titles (e.g GTA V, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Witcher 3).

The Features of the MSI Radeon RX 470 Gaming X 4G

  • Semi-passive dual-fan cooler (TwinFrozr VI)
  • 1.254 MHz GPU clock
  • Memory clocked at 3.350 MHz (effective 6.700 MHz)
  • 1× 8-Pin Power Connector

Radeon RX 470: Factory-Overclocked & Dual-Fan Cooler

The Polaris 10 Pro GPU of the Radeon RX 470 comes with 32 compute units and 2.048 shader units. The GPU of the MSI Radeon RX 470 Gaming X 4G offers an average boost clock of 1.254 MHz. The 4 GB of GDDR5 VRAM is clocked at 3.350 MHz (6.700 MHz) and is connected via a 256 bit bandwidth interface to the GPU.

In order for the graphics card to reach its maximum performance, it is important for the electronics on the card to remain as cool as possible. That's why MSI relies on the renowned and effective Twin-Frozr cooler. The now semi-passive Twin-Frozr VI has been overhauled to include twin 10 cm Torx fan blades that blow fresh air through the aluminium heatsink as well as multiple nickel-plated heatpipes. When under a certain threshold, the fans can even spin down completely, meaning the cooler can function in complete silence. The black-red RX 470 Gaming X 4G from MSI has a backlit MSI LED logo and the RGB-LED lighting can be adjusted via the MSI Gaming App.

14 nm FinFET and a GCN 1.3: The Radeon RX 470

The new 14 nm FinFET manufacturing process as well as great leaps forward in frequency control, power saving and clock rate technologies make the Radeon RX 470 with its TDP of 120 Watts very energy efficient, especially when compared with its predecessors like the Radeon R9 390 (250 Watt TDP). The 14 nm technology enables more transistors to be accommodated in a smaller surface area, whilst simultaneously reducing energy requirements.

The 4th generation Graphics Core Next architecture (GCN 1.3) also introduces new features, such as a command processor, a geometry processor, new multimedia cores, an optimised display engine as well as an improved memory controller. Counted among the newly-supported technologies are Async Compute, Vulkan, DirectX 12 and AMD's FreeSync technology.

Displays can be connected via Display Port, HDMI, or DVI-D Duallink. EyeFinity Technology allows up to four displays to be connected in a multi-display setup. The 2.0b HDMI port carries a 4K/UHD resolution signal at 60 Hz and permits the sending and receiving of encrypted signals using the HDCP 2.2 protocol (4K streaming, 4K Blu-Rays).

In order to reach the maximum potential of the card, new drivers should be downloaded and installed at regular intervals from the AMD or ASUS websites.

Keine klare Empfehlung
