PCIe 5.0

PCIe-5.0 power supplies are the optimal choice for the latest gaming graphics cards with PCIe-5.0 support. PSUs with this standard naturally come with a 12VHPWR connector (12 Volt High Power) and do not require a separate adapter cable.

PCIe-5.0 Power Supplies with Native 16-Pin Connector

12VHPWR

The 12VHPWR connector is also referred to as a 16-pin connector, 12+4-pin, or Gen5 connector, and has a total of 12 contacts for power transmission with a maximum of 9.2 amps, which roughly corresponds to a power of 600 watts. The four additional sense pins on the top are used to transmit sideband signals. The maximum drawable power is printed on the connector.

More Safety for High-End Graphics Cards

The four signal pins provide the power supply with important information about the available power at the connector and offer the graphics card the ability to shut down the power supply via CARD_PWR_STABLE in case of fluctuating supply voltage. This prevents potential damage to your gaming hardware.

In addition to the higher power, the 12VHPWR connector also offers a significant size advantage compared to two to three 8-pin connectors. Your gaming PC looks much tidier without additional adapter cables.

Be Ready with ATX-3.0 PSUs

Power supplies based on ATX-3.0 usually provide a 16-pin connector and, in modular setups, also a corresponding socket on the power supply with support for PCIe-5.0. Some power supplies come with a Y-cable that has a 16-pin connector for the graphics card and two, three, or even four connectors for 6+2-pin PCIe sockets on the power supply at the other end. However, you will have to forgo the function of the four sensor pins. With the new connector, you are well-equipped for worry-free high-end gaming.
