AMD Gaming-PCs are equipped with processors (CPUs) from the US chip manufacturer. AMD is known for offering hardware with a good price-performance ratio, and especially with its Ryzen series, AMD has managed to make a mark in the high-end segment again.
AMD Gaming PC with Ryzen Processor
In early 2017, the Texan chipmaker began its reclamation of the high-end segment, mainly thanks to the "Zen" microarchitecture of the Ryzen CPUs. Manufactured using the 14nm FinFET process, the first generation of Ryzen processors boasted numerous processor cores with multithreading. In addition to the number of cores, AMD also significantly increased the clock speed and simultaneously equipped its mainstream CPUs with an unlocked multiplier. While the competition only allows overclocking on high-end models, AMD has unlocked this option for all Ryzen CPUs.
Now in the 3rd generation of Ryzen processors, the Zen microarchitecture has firmly established itself in the market. Innovative and bold steps have contributed to the ongoing success of Ryzen. As the first gaming CPUs to support the PCIe 4.0 standard, the Ryzen 3000 processors are manufactured using a 7nm process. The "mainstream CPUs" feature up to 16 cores and 32 threads, while Ryzen Threadripper with 64 cores and 128 threads represent the maximum for AMD Gaming PCs.
This allows for affordable systems with extremely high-performance potential, which can be further enhanced by overclocking. For gamers, the Ryzen processors mean one thing above all: more money for the graphics card! AMD Gaming PCs primarily differ based on the CPU used:
- Ryzen Threadripper:
With up to 64 cores and 64 PCIe 4.0 lanes, these HEDT CPUs are particularly suitable for gaming systems with multiple graphics cards and M.2 NVMe SSDs, while also delivering extremely good performance for workstation PCs. Gaming PCs with AMD's Ryzen Threadripper processors excel in playing, streaming, and recording simultaneously in 4K resolution. - Ryzen 9:
The "must-have" for PC enthusiasts! The CPUs of the Ryzen 9 series bridge the gap between Ryzen and Threadripper and are perfect for high-end AMD Gaming PCs and budget workstations. - Ryzen 7:
Ryzen 7 processors are very popular in the high-end segment, and gaming PCs with a corresponding CPU offer excellent performance. Due to the high number of cores, the AMD CPU is also suitable for streamers and for smaller workstations for video editing. - Ryzen 5:
In the mid-range segment, Ryzen 5 offers magnificent performance for a good price. The CPU is popular among gamers and can be combined with high-end graphics cards for a powerful duo. - Ryzen 3:
For casual gamers and gaming titles with low requirements, systems with a Ryzen 3 CPU are suitable. Many popular online games and browser games do not require a high-end CPU, making AMD's entry-level CPU a good choice here.
