Update 4: First Benchmarks of the RTX 2080 Ti Leaked!
Renowned for hardware leaks VideoCardz.com (external link) has just published potential performance benchmarks from NVIDIA’s RTX- series of graphics cards. The GeForce RTX 2080 Ti benchmarks are supposed to have come from NVIDIA’s „Reviewers Guide“, as such they are not independently validated. You can view the Frames per Second (FPS) at 4K (3.840 x 2.160 Pixel) in the following table:
RTX 2080 Ti | RTX 2080 | GTX 1080 Ti | GTX 1080 | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Battlefield 1 | 89 FPS | 72 FPS | 60 FPS | 52 FPS |
F1 2018 | 91 FPS | 72 FPS | 63 FPS | 52 FPS |
CoD: WW II | 139 FPS | 104 FPS | 91 FPS | 66 FPS |
Mass Effect: Andromeda | 61 FPS | 51 FPS | 43 FPS | 36 FPS |
Middle Earth: Shadow of War | 67 FPS | 53 FPS | 47 FPS | 37 FPS |
Star Wars: Battlefront II | 86 FPS | 66 FPS | 60 FPS | 52 FPS |
Playerunknown’s Battleground | 79 FPS | 62 FPS | 58 FPS | 46 FPS |
Rainbow Six: Siege | 154 FPS | 123 FPS | 103 FPS | 79 FPS |
Shadow of the Tomb Raider | 59 FPS | 47 FPS | 43 FPS | 32 FPS |
Witcher 3 | 78 FPS | 62 FPS | 57 FPS | 43 FPS |
Wolfenstein II: The new Colossus | 89 FPS | 72 FPS | 60 FPS | 52 FPS |
The NDA on tests is supposed to end on 19.09.2018. As soon as the first independently verified benchmarks of the GeForce RTX 2080 become available, we will be sure to update this blog as needed. Currently it appears that the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti enjoys performance gains of up to 47 percent at 4K resolution when compared to its direct predecessors, while the GeForce RTX 2080 on the other hand is up to 50 percent faster than its older sibling from the 10- series.
Update 3: First Information on the Performance of the RTX 2080
NVIDIA has released the first information on the performance of the GeForce RTX 2080 in „regular“ games. The GeForce RTX 2080 comes with the Turing GPU in comparison to its predecessor, the GeForce GTX 1080, which utilised the Pascal architecture. The card’s performance was tested at 4K resolution and was the put side-by-side against the performance of the GTX 1080. In the ten games tested, the GeForce RTX 2080 performed 50% better (a factor of 1.5). Six titles with DLSS support (Deep Learning Super-Sampling) were able, using Turing, to provide a virtual doubling of performance in comparison to the previous generation’s Pascal architecture.
The second infographic provided by NVIDIA lists ten games with the FPS achieved at 4K/UHD resolutions. The detail levels under which these tests were run is not yet known. Up to 93 FPS was recorded at 4K in „Call of Duty: WWII“ with the GeForce RTX 2080, an impressive result by any standard! Anyone wanting to pre-order NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 2080 can do this at Caseking from today!

Update 2: der8auer Disassembles the EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti!
Roman „der8auer“ Hartung has got hold of a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and a GeForce RTX 2080 from EVGA and taken them to pieces to get a better look at the PCB. The graphics chip of the RTX 2080 Ti for example is approximately 775 mm² in size; and as such represents one of the biggest chips that NVIDIA has ever created. More on the new gaming graphics cards can be viewed in the following video and we will update this blog with additional information and benchmarks as soon as we have them!

Update 1: What Does Ray Tracing do for Games?
One of the most significant features of the RTX 2000-series is the new Ray Tracing technology. Ray Tracing enables the realistic portrayal of lighting while simulating the actual physical characteristics and behaviour of light. The result of Ray Tracing in gaming can be seen in the following three demo videos:
