Out NOW: The 8th Processor Generation – Intel „Coffee Lake“ CPUs
The eighth generation of processors from Intel goes by the codename of „Coffee Lake“ and is poised to bring PC enthusiasts, overclockers and hardcore gamers a significant performance boost in applications and games. This is mainly due to the increased number of cores, the high clock frequencies and the optimised 300-series chipsets which have been specially designed for Coffee Lake processors.
These cutting-edge processors have been fabricated using the new 14nm++ process and this brings a host of improvements. The Core i3 processors now possess four cours and four threads instead of two cours and two threads. The new Core i5 and Core i7 ranges herald the arrival of hexa-core processors to the mass market, offering high base and boost clocks for superb power in games and applications. The i7 also comes with a larger cache as well as Hyper-Threading to enable 12 threads to be processed simultaneously.
It should also be noted that these new processors are compatible with DDR4-RAM, with the Core i3 supporting a maximum of 2.400 MHz and the hexa-cores a maximum of 2,666 MHz. Only motherboards utilising Intel’s 300- series chipset are compatible due to changes in the power supply, this means older motherboards are incompatible. Finally these processors also come with improved graphical performance with Intel UHD Graphics 630 along with an increase in clock frequencies as well as optimised drivers.
