GPU Water Coolers for Custom Water Cooling
Graphics Card / GPU Water Coolers
Water Coolers for Graphics Cards are used to integrate graphics cards into a water cooling loop. Normal fans or passive heatsinks are no longer needed, which is why these must be removed before attaching the water cooler to the graphics card. The following types of water coolers are distinguished:
- Full-Block Water Coolers
- MOSFET Water Coolers
- GPU Water Coolers
While the Full-Block Water Cooler cools all areas of the graphics card, the other two types cool either only the GPU or only the voltage regulators and memory modules. Due to the large cooling unit of the water coolers, the GPU, the adjacent memory modules, the voltage regulators, or all of them together are effectively cooled.
The water coolers for graphics cards are always specifically designed for certain graphics card series. Special backplates for the corresponding Full-Block Water Coolers are also available in some cases. These improve the appearance of the Full-Block Water Cooler and also ensure that the PCB does not warp.
Water Coolers for Graphics Cards in Different Versions with Different Materials
Regarding the material of water coolers for graphics cards, electrolytic copper is mostly used as the base. This can also be nickel-plated, which can give the water cooler for graphics cards a more elegant appearance and protect the copper from corrosion. It should be ensured that all materials in the entire water cooling loop are compatible with each other, as otherwise chemical reactions could be triggered that may damage the components. There is also a connection terminal, often made of Delrin, and possibly a stainless steel frame that holds the cover on the base surface. The connections of a water cooler for graphics cards usually consist of two to four G1/4 ports, which serve to integrate the cooler into the water cooling loop.
The cover of the water cooler can be either made of POM/Acetal plastic or acrylic glass. In the latter case, it is possible to equip the water cooler with LEDs to create a lighting effect. Thus, some manufacturers' acrylic covers of water coolers often include two or more LED holes. Some manufacturers also offer water coolers with RGB LED lighting, which can often be synchronized with the hardware.
Water-Cooled Graphics Cards with Pre-Assembled GPU Water Coolers
Water-cooled graphics cards offer the best gaming performance, as the better cooling allows the pixel accelerators to work under full load for longer periods. Overclocking the graphics card is also facilitated by efficient water cooling. Since removing the original cooler usually voids the warranty, many PC enthusiasts are hesitant to cool their graphics card with water. This is reason enough for the King Mod team from Caseking to equip graphics cards with a monoblock. These King Mod graphics cards are extensively tested after the conversion and then offered with a full warranty! This way, everyone can enjoy a water-cooled gaming PC.
