Sensors & Controllers for Liquid Cooling Systems

To read and control the temperature or other values of his water cooling system, two essential items are needed. Sensors that are placed directly at the points to be monitored, and a control unit or special software that reads and monitors the values. In addition to temperature, the fill level, differential pressure, and water flow in a water cooling system can be measured. Good control units enable the monitoring of temperature sensors in a measurement range of 0 - 100°, as well as free control and monitoring of radiator fans with individual parameters.

If desired, some control systems can also connect lighting modules and create various lighting effects. Control is either via regulators or buttons on the control unit itself or via software - for this, the control unit usually needs to be connected to the computer via USB. Normally, the control units are connected to the power supply via a 4-pin connector.

The other types of sensors & controls for water cooling systems

  • Level sensors can be used, for example, for large tube reservoirs, in which case the pressure generated by the water column in the reservoir is measured at the sensor.
  • Measurement of differential pressure takes place at filters to monitor the increasing resistance with increasing contamination, making it much easier to determine the maintenance needs of the filter element than with a visual inspection.
  • Measurement of water flow is the most important indicator of the functionality and performance of the water cooling system. Usually, this value is only indirectly recorded via the pump speed on the control side - but the real impact of this cannot be inferred.
