Fan Screws

Fan screws ensure that a fan can be securely fixed in the case at the fan slot, mounted on a radiator, or attached to a fan grill. Often, fan screws are included with the case or a newly purchased fan, but they can sometimes be lost, or extensive modding measures may require new fan screws. Four screws provide a secure fit.

Special Formats for Special Cases

Fan screws are standardized and can be screwed into any conventional PC fan using a Phillips screwdriver, typically cutting into the fan's screw holes or screw mounts by themselves. Almost always, the screws are driven from outside the case into the fan located inside. In rare cases, you may need to screw a fan from the inside out, requiring longer screws (e.g., 15 or 25 mm) that pass entirely through the fan frame and the case wall to be secured on the outside with included nuts. An alternative to fan screws are rubber decouplers, which reduce the transmission of vibrations from the fan to the case, contributing to a quieter PC. You can find decoupler pins and stubs in the adjacent "Anti-Vibration" category.
