Fan Grills
Fan Grills
Many computer cases have plenty of fans that ensure proper airflow through the case and adequate air cooling. Fans of various sizes are also widely used on water cooling radiators for active heat exchange. Many mounting spots feature mesh grilles or other patterns on the exterior.
This serves multiple purposes: particularly at the front and bottom of a case, it helps to reduce the amount of dust entering unimpeded, and more importantly, it protects against the rotating fan blades of the rotor within the fan frame. Depending on the size, speed, and material of the fan, these blades can cause significant injury or damage to objects like cables and connectors.
Fan Grills for Every Taste and Size
However, this typically only protects one side of the fan, leaving the other side exposed. Some cases or radiators may not have any such protection at all. For this purpose, optional fan grills, also known as fan grilles, are available. There are at least as many variants of fan grills as there are fans themselves:
- Fan grills are made from various materials, such as aluminum, plastic, or stainless steel. They are available in different sizes, whether for 80 mm, 92 mm, 120 mm, or 140 mm fans.
- Depending on individual preferences, fan grills come in various colors.
- For those who like to customize, there are fan grills with specific designs or shapes that give a unique touch to their case.
Thus, fan grills not only provide practical protection but are also an option for modding purposes, worth considering. Fan grills are typically attached directly to the fan or positioned between the fan slot and the fan.
