Cables & Adapters
Cables & Adapters
Without cables, our modern, electrified, and networked world would be unimaginable. Cables deliver power to our homes and to every single device. Cables connect computers worldwide, enabling the Internet, charge our MP3 players, or power the SSD in our PCs. Cables are essential - simply everywhere.
Cables & Adapters - Internal and External Data Lines
A cable is a bundle of conductors, usually made of copper, that serves to transmit energy or information. They conduct electrical current, while fiber optic cables can also transmit light waves through glass fiber. Cables are generally surrounded by an insulating and flame-retardant plastic sheath (e.g., PVC). Several cable strands can additionally be enclosed and protected by a stylish sleeve. Sensitive cables for signal transmissions are also shielded against electromagnetic radiation to avoid interference.
- Whether data cables, power cables, audio cables, video cables, or network cables - they all connect individual components in and with the PC or between other technical devices. These are classified into internal cables, external cables, and multimedia cables.
- Cables come in various forms and constructions, such as spiral, flat ribbon, or round cables. Twisted-pair cables consist of several twisted pairs of wires, and coaxial cables are characterized by a bipolar internal structure.
- Compatibility of the cables must also be considered. Connection or adapter cables are available in various lengths and strengths with different plugs and connectors for different areas of application. If a plug or socket does not fit, a suitable adapter can be the solution.
- High-quality cables, in particular, protect against cable breakage and enable interference-free signal transmission. Gold-plated contacts on adapters and cables also protect against corrosion and ensure a long cable life.
