Modifying power and data cables offers an interesting way to enhance the appearance of a PC and tailor it to personal requirements. In so-called sleeving, the cables can either be wrapped with a cable mesh for better protection or the existing sleeve can be replaced. With a variety of colour options and UV-active coatings, the cables can also become eye-catching features.

MDPC-X Sleeve is specifically manufactured to transform a simple cable into a design object, creating a distinctive aesthetic. MDPC-X is known for adding optimal rigidity to the cable, removing all small waves from it. The tight application allows absolutely uniform and smooth curve radii, or straight lines – without the need for auxiliary objects that would force the natural flow and disrupt the appearance.

How does sleeving work and what do I need?

The procedure is as follows: First, the connectors are separated from the cables, which requires special tools depending on the connector type. If present, the sleeve jacket is then removed and the cable is possibly shortened. Now the new sleeve, cut to the appropriate length, can be pulled over the cable. Afterwards, short pieces of heat-shrink tubing are pulled over the start and end of the cable, and the connector is reattached. When heated, the heat-shrink tubing contracts, sealing the transition and preventing the sleeve mesh from fraying.

To determine how much "sleeve material" is needed for your project, the general formula is usually: number of cables * length of cables + 20%. It is especially important to know that the sleeve length refers to the stretched state with minimal tension. With larger diameters and thus increased sleeve stretch, the total length shortens. Therefore, when sleeves are used at their maximum stretch diameter, almost 200% of the sleeve length is required to cover the object length.

MDPC-X Sleeve Small ensures perfect sleeving without compromise

This is a 1-metre sleeve made from high-quality PET-X fibres. Compared to other sleeve materials, such as nylon-based "fabric" materials, PET-X is water-repellent and dirt-resistant. Additionally, PET-X does not ignite as suddenly and rapidly as nylon materials do. Therefore, it can be used under extreme conditions from -58°C to +155°C.

The diameter of the MDPC-X cable sleeves is very variable; it can be stretched or contracted, allowing versatility in possible applications. The Small Sleeves can be stretched from approximately 1.7 mm to approximately 7.8 mm and stand out colour-wise with a pattern in a rich red.

Depending on logistical requirements, delivery may be made either in a single piece or in a maximum of two sections at random. The length of the two sections is variable, but the cut is always made in whole metres. The total length, however, always corresponds to the ordered length.
