The Western Digital Red Pro 4 TB is helium-filled and hermetically sealed. Helium has only one-seventh the density of air, which significantly reduces air turbulence caused by the spinning disks when replacing air with helium in a hard drive. This also minimizes power consumption and temperatures.

The hard drive consumes only 5.8 watts during operation and runs approximately four to five degrees cooler than standard hard drives.
