The DeltaMate fittings are water cooling hose connectors for the individual components of a custom water cooling system. Manufactured from brass with the usual Thermal Grizzly quality, the fittings are machined. Brass, as an alloy of copper and zinc, offers the advantage of being anodically compatible with other metals while being both harder and more corrosion-resistant than copper.
The sealing rings (O-rings) are made from the particularly elastic and ozone- and UV-resistant EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber). The robust design of the DeltaMate fittings allows assembly using an 8 mm internal hex key. The uniform outer diameter of all DeltaMate connectors enables seamless integration of the individual products.
General Information
The DeltaMate Quick Disconnects (QDC) are drip-free quick couplings with an integrated shut-off function and vacuum-assisted drip protection design. The internal geometry of the QDCs is optimised for high flow and minimises flow resistance. The DeltaMate Quick Disconnect Female - F fitting features a female QDC connection and a G1/4" internal thread. For a QDC coupling, one fitting with a male QDC connection and one fitting with a female QDC connection are required. For a refined finish, the fittings are coated with a matte nickel plating.
Features
- Drip-free quick coupling
- Integrated shut-off function and vacuum-assisted drip protection design
- Locking mechanism for snapping in by pressing and releasing by sliding
- Internal geometry designed for high flow minimises flow resistance while ensuring reliable sealing
- Precision-machined brass construction for durability and seamless integration
Why are QDCs special?
Quick disconnects are specialised fittings that allow rapid exchange of components in a water cooling loop. They are particularly helpful for content creators, as, for example, when swapping a graphics card in a test setup with a custom loop, the entire loop does not need to be drained. Additionally, they are often used by PC enthusiasts to integrate external radiators into the loop. Each coupling consists of a plug half (male) and a socket half (female), both available with external thread (M) and internal thread (F).
Although QDCs offer several advantages such as time savings and additional possibilities for integrating more radiators, they also have drawbacks. QDCs consist of several smaller parts that must be precisely manufactured and then assembled by hand, resulting in higher production costs compared to conventional fittings. Furthermore, their function can cause a slight pressure drop, which restricts water flow more than normal fittings. It is therefore recommended to use only as many QDCs as are actually needed.
QDCs and Water Blocks
For the quick exchange of graphics cards in water-cooled test benches, we recommend forming directional pairs consisting of one version with G1/4-inch external thread (M) and one with G1/4-inch internal thread (F). This prevents accidental reversal of the flow direction and ensures that both valves retain the coolant when disconnected: on the water block side for the intake, a DeltaMate Quick Disconnect Female - M, and on the hose side a DeltaMate Quick Disconnect Male - F. For the outtake, accordingly, on the water block side a DeltaMate Quick Disconnect Male - M and on the hose side a DeltaMate Quick Disconnect Female - F. For the hose-side QDCs, a DeltaMate ST fitting (ST13 or ST16) is also required to connect the hose.
QDCs for Connecting Hoses
If QDCs are to be used to connect two hoses, QDCs with internal threads (F) should be used on both sides of the quick coupling connection so that standard fittings for the hoses can be mounted on the QDC ends. In the flow direction of the loop, the same plug halves (male) and socket halves (female) of a QDC pair should be used at all QDC connections. For one QDC connection, two DeltaMate Quick Disconnect Male - F, two DeltaMate Quick Disconnect Female - F, and four DeltaMate ST fittings (ST13 or ST16) are required.
