Thermal Grizzly WireView Pro II Wired GPU Power Monitor

The WireView Pro II has been specifically designed for the demanding use of modern high-end graphics cards with 12V-2x6 connectors and represents the advanced version of the WireView Pro. As a patented development by Thermal Grizzly, it is protected by the European patent EP4250057. The "Wired" variant of the WireView Pro II is not plugged directly into the graphics card but can be freely positioned inside the case thanks to a 40 cm long power cable with a 12V-2x6 connector. Several included mounting brackets offer extensive options for attachment.

The WireView Pro II measures the current not only as a total value but per conductor of the 12V-2x6 connector. This allows potential contact issues between the cable and graphics card to be identified immediately. The WireView Pro II was specifically developed to enable precise monitoring of the 12V-2x6 connector, allowing early detection of load distribution problems and helping to prevent possible damage to the graphics card and the 12V-2x6 connector.

All safety-relevant parameters such as currents (A), voltages (V), temperatures (°C), and power consumption (W) are continuously measured. Thermal Grizzly defines limit values that should not be exceeded during normal operation, as otherwise there is an increased risk of thermal damage to the connector. If these limits are exceeded, a visual warning appears on the display along with an audible alarm. Optionally, automatic system shutdown is possible via the supplied splitter cable. The preset limit values can be changed via the configuration menu.

Cooling

Due to unavoidable contact resistances at connector joints, additional waste heat is generated during the operation of high-performance GPUs. For controlled heat dissipation, a semi-passive fan has been integrated, which operates silently at idle and is automatically activated with increasing power consumption or temperature. The CNC-milled aluminium housing features ventilation openings and serves as an active heat sink. Optimised airflow is supported by openings in the rear circuit board, directing air along all heat-relevant components.

The cooling of the WireView Pro II Wired can benefit from mounting the device on one of the intake case fans. The additional airflow supports the dissipation of waste heat, so the WireView Pro II Wired usually operates in passive mode.

User-Friendliness

The WireView Pro II Wired features a fixed, 40 cm long power cable that plugs into the 12V-2x6 connector of the graphics card. This makes the WireView Pro II Wired compatible with all available graphics cards with a 12V-2x6 connection, including NVIDIA’s Founder Editions. The WireView Pro II Wired can be mounted in various locations inside the case or on the graphics card itself using the included mounting brackets, while three cable combs on the power cable facilitate cable management and improve the appearance.

The integrated TFT IPS display offers several views that can be configured directly on the device. The device can be used entirely as a hardware solution and is additionally complemented by software (WireView2-SW-1.0.3), which is available in the product’s download area.

Automatic Data Logging

An integrated memory regularly logs relevant operating data to trace possible error events. Recorded data include the 12-volt currents measured per pin, total power consumption, and temperature at the 12V-2x6 output (T-Out) near the connector. A data set is saved every 60 seconds. The memory allows for approximately 340 days of full load or around 3-4 years of typical operation before older entries are automatically overwritten. The collected data support both fault analysis and the further development of safer connector solutions within the community.
