The Western Digital Red Pro 6 TB is helium-filled and hermetically sealed. Helium has only one-seventh the density of air, which significantly reduces the air turbulence caused by the spinning platters when replacing air with helium in a hard drive. The hard drive only consumes 6.9 watts during operation and runs about four to five degrees lower than standard hard drives. With 4.9 watts in idle, the remaining power consumption values of the Western Digital Red Pro 6 TB are also very low, benefiting not only the NAS system but also the wallet.

The SATA 6G interface does not fully utilise its limit with 238 MB/s, but it scores with an improved protocol. This ensures higher energy efficiency and allows for faster and more reliable data transfer.
