NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090: Unleash Unrivaled Power and Next-Level Gaming Performance!

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 is a high-end graphics card designed for the highest demands of gamers and content creators. With this fast GeForce GPU, smooth 4K gaming with stunning ray tracing effects is effortlessly possible.

GeForce RTX 4090 Graphics Card for High-End Gamers

The AD102 graphics processor is used as the graphics chip of the RTX 4090. The AD102-300 built on the graphics card, like all GPUs of the RTX-4000 generation, is based on NVIDIA's Ada Lovelace architecture and the 4-nm manufacturing process. This offers 3rd generation RT cores and 4th generation Tensor cores, streaming multiprocessors for the most realistic ray tracing graphics, and the latest AI features.

Higher Framerate and Better Graphics with NVIDIA DLSS 3

NVIDIA's DLSS 3 (Deep Learning Super Sampling) utilizes the Tensor cores of the RTX 4090 to maximize performance with uncompromised image quality thanks to AI calculation.

Speed Wins

NVIDIA Reflex gives you the crucial competitive advantage with low input latency, minimizing your hardware's response times.

8K Gaming for PC Enthusiasts

With 16,384 shader ALUs, 24 GB of graphics memory, and an expanded 384-bit memory interface at 21 Gbps bandwidth, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 is made for gaming at high resolutions. Be among the first to enjoy 8K gaming.

Adobe Creative Cloud with the RTX 4090

With the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090, Adobe Creative Cloud tools are faster than ever. Whether you are a digital artist, professional photographer, editor, or motion graphics specialist – with NVIDIA, you benefit from the best features and the strongest performance of the Creative Cloud.

AV1 Support: Better Quality for Your Live Stream

The NVIDIA Encoder: NVENC is an independent part of the GeForce RTX 4090 GPU. It is used to encode videos and offload the CPU. This allows your system to free up resources for games while streaming simultaneously, letting you focus on the essentials: a truly breathtaking broadcast. In the Ada GPUs, two NVENC encoders now support AV1, enabling 1440p streaming instead of 1080p with H.264 at the same performance. Additionally, the encoder and GeForce Experience ShadowPlay can record video material in 8K60 with HDR.

Ada Lovelace SM

GeForce RTX 4090: The Ada Lovelace GPU Architecture

The Ada GPU architecture offers several optimizations over Ampere. The number of CUDA cores per SM (Streaming Multiprocessors) has increased from 84 to 128. An Ampere SM can perform either 128 FP32 or 64 FP32 and 64 INT32 calculations per workload. Each SM consists of four blocks, each with 16 FP32 ALUs and FP32/INT32 ALUs. Like Ampere, each SM has a ray tracing core.

With 128 SMs, the RTX 4090 thus has 16,384 CUDA cores (8,192 FP32 and FP32/INT32 ALUs each) and 128 ray tracing cores. The 128 SMs are divided into 7 GPCs (Graphics Processing Clusters) on the RTX 4090, and each SM has 4 tensor cores. However, the tensor cores in version 4 on the Ada GPUs are significantly more powerful than those on Ampere.

Ray Tracing Performance of the RTX 4090

Ada GPUs are equipped with a new technology called Shader Execution Reordering (SER), which can increase ray tracing performance by up to three times compared to the Ampere generation. Workloads are more efficiently sorted, and in-game FPS can increase by up to 25%.

Ray tracing (RT) enables realistic lighting by simulating the physical properties and behavior of light. RT is the calculation of the color of individual pixels as light travels from the user's eye through a 3D landscape. Light traverses the 3D scene, reflecting off objects or generating reflections, creating shadows, and producing transparent or semi-transparent objects. This results in light refractions or distortions.

Ray tracing combines all these effects to represent the final color of a pixel on the monitor. Until now, ray tracing has primarily been used in films to create special effects. Render farms are often used for these scenes, and calculating complex 3D animations and special effects for movies can take several weeks. Due to the complexity of ray tracing, PC applications such as computer games typically use 3D objects based on a raster model. In rasterization, 3D objects are modeled from a network of triangles or polygons. These triangles of the 3D model are converted into pixels on a 2D screen individually in the rendering pipeline. The pixels can then be further processed ("shaded").

Tensor & DLSS 3

As the 4th generation tensor cores provide higher performance than the 3rd generation, Ada with DLSS 3 can achieve up to four times higher frame rates than native rendering. Tensor cores are computational cores specifically developed for deep learning, used for AI-based DLSS.

These matrix-based computational cores have special data paths for optimized floating-point computation throughput and offer increased energy efficiency. Training and inference, as components of deep learning, particularly benefit from the tensor cores. Training, or learning new skills based on existing data, is expected to achieve up to five times higher TFLOP performance with the tensor cores than with Ampere.
