The Streacom DA6: Modularity in perfection
With eight years of experience behind them
Streacom has developed a new vertical, small form factor case that has been explicitly designed to showcase high-end hardware. The
Streacom DA6 takes this plan and presents it with a tubular aesthetic, incredible versatility, and future-proof features. Thanks to its open design, this case has phenomenal airflow and cooling capabilities, which can be further bolstered with support for both fans and radiators. There are many configurations you can take advantage of with the
Streacom DA6, how you build it is up to you.
Tubular Experience
The
Streacom DA6 is an open frame case that fuses unique aesthetics with versatile functionality. Its wrap-around frame and mounting plates are manufactured from
premium 304 stainless steel and machine milled 6063 aluminium. Even the motherboard mount sports a tubular look, equal parts innovative and stylish. These tubes are situated centrally and to the edge of the mounting plate, allowing them to support the
vertical GPU as well as the motherboard.
This minimalist design provides the groundwork for incredible flexibility when it comes to installing hardware. Included are eight universal brackets that are installed directly onto the tubing, either internally or on the exterior, which can support hardware from storage drives to fans and radiators. As a result, the
Streacom DA6 has been optimised to reduce clutter and complexity. The perfect showcase for your gaming PC.
Unrivalled Airflow
As an open frame case, the
Streacom DA6 comes with unrivalled airflow, out of the box. The open sides allow unrestricted access to all hardware, maximising the potential of passive cooling. Being open frame may cause worry where dust is concerned, but
Streacom employ the strategy of "don't hide it, make it easier to clean". Dust build-up is a concern of any case, having easy access will enable you to clean more frequently and enjoy the better performance that comes from well-maintained hardware.
Should you want to boost the cooling capacity of the
Streacom DA6, it is able to support both fans and radiators. The universal brackets are compatible with fans up to 140mm and radiators up to 280mm. Whilst its core premise is air-cooling, this case can accommodate water-cooling, with the potential for interesting and unique custom loops. Plus, water-cooling tubes are going to fit right in with the aesthetic of this case!
Additionally, there is ample space for a CPU cooler up to 105mm tall. This would bring the block to the very edge of the
Streacom DA6. However, as it is open frame, there are really no limitations on how tall your CPU cooler is. Should your processor need the thermal power of a taller tower, this case will not stop you. It should be noted that a CPU cooler taller than 105mm will extend out the side.
High-End Hardware
The motherboard tubes on the
Streacom DA6 support the Mini-ITX form factor. The plate below has 3+ expansion slots, where a PCI mount can be fitted to vertically mount your GPU. This, along with the riser adjustment that fits onto the motherboard tubes, allows you to manoeuvre the graphics card along the x-axis of the case. As a result, you can place your show-piece graphics card perfectly central. Thanks to the height of the case, the
Streacom DA6 can hold graphics cards up to 323mm long.
When it comes to powering your gaming PC, this case has flexible options once more. The
Streacom DA6 can accommodate SFX, SFX-L, and ATX power supplies. What size you can instal does depend on the size of your graphics card, but there is no one fixed way to mount the unit. Attaching to the top panel, the PSU can be placed horizontally or vertically on any one of the four sides. This versatility also helps with cable management, as well as optimising on cooling and space.
Thanks to the universal brackets, the
Streacom DA6 can support an extensive number of drives. Much like with the PSU, how many storage drives you can install depends on the size of your other hardware. With zero restrictions, you can install between five and nine 3.5" HDDs, making this an excellent case for NAS systems. Alternatively, as a gaming system, this case can accommodate at least one 3.5" or 2.5" drive - more depending on hardware size and how it is arranged.
Modular Feature
With a small footprint, the
Streacom DA6 has limited surface space. As such, the I/O panel is modular. There are three available slots to instal any of the four included modules, allowing you to opt for the positions that best suit your motherboard and cable management needs. By default, the module featuring the power button and USB Type-C port is fitted on the bottom I/O location. The other three modules feature:
- 2 x USB Type-C ports
- 2 x USB Type-A ports
- 1 x USB Type-A and 1 x USB Type-C port
- 1 x Power button and 1 x USB Type-A port
In addition to this, a Biometric module for Windows Hello has been included. This touch sensor button replaces the glass button, and is compatible with all Streacom D Series cases.
