Wireless PC Keyboards

Wired PC Keyboards generally have a much lower error rate in transmitting input commands compared to wireless PC keyboards. However, they are not nearly as convenient if you want to use the keyboard while sitting on the sofa. Wireless PC keyboards are powered by batteries or a rechargeable battery and connected to the PC via a separate receiver. While wireless PC keyboards are suitable for most tasks just like keyboards that are directly connected to the PC via PS/2 or USB, they are less suitable for pro gaming due to the higher error rate and lack of features such as anti-ghosting.

Wireless PC Keyboards - Less Suitable for Pro Gaming

Most wireless PC keyboards are rubber dome keyboards and are especially suitable for office work and typing tasks. With their usually flat keys that are very easy to press, they are well-suited for efficiently typing longer texts. For professional gamers, rubber dome keyboards are generally disadvantageous as they often lead to finger slippage during fast gaming and provide less precision. Mechanical PC keyboards are rarely available as wireless versions. The transfer rate of PC keyboards depends on the transmission standard used in wireless PC keyboards. The 2.4 GHz radio standard is often used. The Bluetooth interface is also used in more modern PC keyboards. Wireless PC keyboards are unlikely to have features like anti-ghosting or an integrated USB hub. When choosing a wireless PC keyboard, you should consider the following aspects:

  • Rechargeable Battery: An integrated battery that can be charged directly on the PC via a cable is much more practical than constantly having to change batteries.
  • Radio or Bluetooth: Both standards offer pretty good transmission speeds, and infrared keyboards should be avoided these days.
  • Design: Since the keyboard is less often purchased for its functions, the aesthetic factor plays an even greater role.
