The "airplex radical" series from the German water cooling specialist aqua computer offers a radiator range primarily focused on performance and functionality at a fair price. The quad version available here, designed for four 120 mm fans per side, features aluminium fins inside a stainless steel frame and is penetrated by four copper pipe rows for extreme cooling performance. The airplex radical 4/480 measures 520 mm long, 140 mm wide, and 73 mm high. It can accommodate four 120 mm fans on one side straight out of the box; for dual-sided mounting, 16 optionally available threaded inserts (M3) must be purchased. The "airplex radical" series is based on the experience aqua computer gained developing the "airplex modularity Series" (AMS), with much being reduced to the essentials for the "airplex radical" models. This has resulted in an exceptionally high-quality radiator with an incredible price-performance ratio. Like the AMS models, the "airplex radical" heat exchangers have no soldered joints and are therefore free of solder residues upon delivery. Only Delrin, stainless steel, and copper come into contact with the coolant—even in variants with aluminium fins. For perfect fan mounting, aqua computer has devised a new system using high-quality threaded sleeves made of nickel-plated brass. This patented system is designed so that the nuts protrude into the fan holes, allowing them to practically fall into the correct position by themselves. Anyone who has ever mounted fans on a radiator will appreciate this! The system also has the advantage of extending the thread and keeping the screw further from the fins, greatly reducing the risk of over-tightening the screw. When mounting the radiator without fans, the sleeves can be rotated 180 degrees, allowing the heat exchanger to be installed without a gap, for example, in a case lid. If a thread is ever damaged, the defective sleeve can simply be replaced with a new one. Small locking tabs are integrated into the guides for the sleeves, ensuring the sleeves securely snap into the final position on the frame. The frame is made of stainless steel, and as a colour accent, the rear end plate is made of dark chromated stainless steel.
