Screws
Screws
When working with computers, you often deal with screws in various places. These screws typically secure individual components like the motherboard, graphics card, or drives within the case, and they also fix the side panels to the case body. You'll encounter screws of different sizes, with varying thread lengths and diameters.
Thumb Screws, Fan Screws, and Motherboard Screws
Thumb screws are especially handy because they can be tightened and loosened with either a screwdriver or your fingers, thanks to the wider knurled edge on the screw head. Since no tools are needed, they are a key part of tool-less case designs and are commonly used to secure side panels or expansion cards in the PCI slots. Additionally, small fan screws are frequently used to mount fans to the case, and tiny motherboard screws ensure that motherboards are securely attached to the tray.
