The CPU coolers from Noctua have repeatedly impressed in various test reports with their excellent cooling performance, so it’s no surprise that the manufacturer Noctua is taking proven paths with the NH-D15 in the AMD Socket AM4 special edition.
The craftsmanship of the model seamlessly continues the outstanding quality of its predecessors. The connections between the heat pipes and fins are soldered, and the plates at the edges are additionally reinforced. With its wider heat pipe layout and two NF-A15 140mm premium fans with PWM support for fully automatic speed control, the NH-D15 can further enhance the multiple award-winning efficiency of the NH-D14. With these tricks, Noctua achieves particularly good stability and durability.
Out of the box, the NH-D15 houses two 140mm fans, which together achieve a very high airflow volume. In conjunction with the two cooling towers, the NH-D15 thus achieves an impressive and hardly surpassable cooling performance. Additionally, each fan comes with a voltage adapter that significantly reduces the speed from 1,500 to 1,200 RPM and thereby also lowers the noise level. The fans are connected via 4-pin PWM.
To adequately supply the two cooling towers with the waste heat from the processor, the manufacturer Noctua has installed six heat pipes that quickly dissipate the waste heat from the heat source. Furthermore, the cooling fins have been expanded from 140 to 150 mm, and the distance between the heat pipes has been increased.
This special edition of the Noctua NH-D15 includes only mounting materials for securing the CPU cooler to motherboards with AMD's Socket AM4, which was introduced in 2017 with the AMD Ryzenâ„¢ desktop processors. Due to changed hole distances on the retention module of the motherboard, the included fastening materials are not compatible with previous AMD sockets 754, 939, 940, FM1, FM2, FM2+, AM2, AM2+, AM3, and AM3+ or Intel sockets! The delivery also includes NT-H1 thermal paste.
