The Ducky One 2 Mini Gaming Keyboard shines with a very minimalist exterior and a mix of new features and proven design concepts. It uses the reliably familiar Cherry MX switches combined by Ducky with PBT double-shot keycaps. The feature package is housed in a slim, black-and-white case without a number pad and arrow keys, featuring a very narrow and stylish frame, and is rounded off with RGB LED backlighting.

Mechanical Cherry MX Silent Red switches and design, appearance & materials

This version uses Cherry MX Silent Red switches. Keyboards with Cherry MX Silent Red switches have a low actuation force and no tactile bump. A tactile bump is not necessarily needed for action-packed games like first-person shooters, as keys are often fully pressed in the heat of the moment. The Cherry MX Silent Red switches are similar in character to rubber dome keyboards. Thanks to their rubber dampers, they are significantly quieter than regular mechanical switches and are therefore ideal for office use, voice chat, and streaming.

The case of the Ducky One 2 Mini Gaming Keyboard is two-tone: while the top is black, the frame and underside of the keyboard are white. The keycaps are made from polybutylene terephthalate, or PBT for short, manufactured using a double-shot process and are much more durable than keys made from ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene).

The highlight of the Ducky One 2 Mini Gaming Keyboard is undoubtedly the professional RGB LED lighting, which allows practically endless design possibilities. It offers a total of twelve different lighting modes, each more elaborate than the last. The special feature of Ducky keyboards lies particularly in the completely software-free configuration of the RGB lighting. All settings and changes can be made via various key combinations.

Functions & features of the Ducky One 2 Mini Gaming Keyboard

The very popular mechanical Cherry MX switches are virtually "indestructible" and are optimally suited for different types of gamers depending on the switch used. Thanks to USB N-Key Rollover, any number of keys can be pressed simultaneously without "ghosting" or other delays. The 1,000 Hz report rate of the USB connection helps here, sending data from the keyboard to the PC every millisecond. The keyboard has a USB Type-C port into which the detachable cable is plugged, with a typical Type-A connector at the other end. The two rubberised feet on the back, which are height adjustable in three stages, also add to the comfort.

The powerful ARM M3 microcontroller of the Ducky One 2 Mini controls and stores the selected LED effects. It also optimises communication between keyboard and PC while simultaneously enabling additional functions, including the use of macros and profile storage. Besides multimedia functions, Ducky Macro V2.0 also allows control of the mouse pointer via the keyboard.

This compact keyboard layout lacks not only the number pad but also the arrow keys, the block with insert and delete keys, as well as print, num lock, and pause keys. The entire function key row is also absent. All missing keys have been integrated into the remaining 61 keys and can be activated with the Fn key. This TKL mini or 60% layout results in an extremely portable and lightweight keyboard.
