The Ducky One 3 Aura Black SF in Detail
The Ducky One 3 mechanical gaming keyboard is designed to give you the best typing experience possible. With a high-quality finish and trimmed for short response times, the Ducky One 3 offers gamers and keyboard enthusiasts a luxurious feeling when typing. Additionally, the switches are not soldered, instead they are mounted on sockets. This allows for effortless replacements.
This variant of the Ducky One 3 offered here is in the 65-percent SF form factor. By dispensing with the numeric keypad, the function keys, and some of the navigation keys, it requires even less space on the desk than an ordinary TKL keyboard. It is also less suitable for office applications. To save space, the arrow keys are also indented.
Mechanical Switches in Detail: Cherry MX Brown
This version is equipped with Cherry MX Brown switches. Keyboards with these switches are a middle ground between a pure gaming keyboard and an ideal desktop keyboard. When pressing the keys, the user has to overcome a slight resistance, which provides a tactile feedback of the contact release. Since you can clearly feel the two very closely spaced switching points, you not only type noticeably faster, but can also trigger multiple clicks with very little stroke distance in succession.
QUACK Mechanics
With this keyboard, Ducky introduces its QUACK Mechanics design philosophy. They consider four essential aspects that are decisive for the typing feel: the keycaps, the casing, the sound, and the stabilizers.
That's why this variant of the Ducky One 3 offers high-quality keycaps made of polycarbonate (PC). The pudding keycaps are transparent at the bottom and coated in black at the top, and the inscriptions are punched out. Ducky casts the keycaps from two layers of plastic. The double-shot process ensures longer durability.
Flat casing and smooth sound
A frequent criticism of mechanical keyboards is their clunkiness. The newly developed casing of the Ducky One 3 is flatter than that of its predecessors and, with the three-stage feet, supports the wrist.
To improve the sound and typing feel, Ducky tested a total of 17 different rubber composites and selected the most suitable variant for the Q-Bounce pad. This is combined with an additional foam layer made of EVA to effectively dampen resonances when typing and hard keystrokes.
