AMD Zen - Scalable Architecture with Precision Boost Technology

AMD Ryzen Threadripper CPUs are "Zen" generation processors with up to 16 physical cores which, thanks to Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT), are each capable of processing two threads simultaneously to enable the number of physical cores to be effectively doubled with the additional virtual cores. The individual cores function at high clock frequencies, adjusting themselves in real-time via Precision Boost in accordance with the computational load in precise 25 MHz increments, all while remaining within TDP. This also holds true regardless of the type of load, including games and applications.

The chip architecture also functions at lower temperatures while producing less noise in comparison to any of its predecessors having been specially designed and optimised for high overclocks. This results in marked improvements in energy efficiency as well as in respect to clock frequencies and the moderate 180 Watt Thermal Design Power (TDP) of the processor.
